WHAT ARE THE COMMON TYPES OF ROOFING?
Low-Sloped Roofing
• Roof Coatings (Fluid Applied Reinforced Roofing)
• Built-Up Roofing (BUR) and Modified BUR
• Single-Ply Membranes (EPDM, TPO, PVC)
Metal Roofing
(Standing Seam or Through Fastened (Corrugated)
• Water-based acrylic coating systems applied in multiple coats with fabric-reinforcing
• Benefits - Versatile product for application over various roof surfaces and details. White and pastel colors tend to lower roof surface temperatures
• Disadvantages - Cannot be applied over roofs that contain moisture and does not hold up to ponding water
• Warranties - Typical manufacturer labor and material warranties are for either 5 or 10 years, depending on the condition of the existing roof
• Special Considerations - Before application, the existing roof must be clean, smooth, dry and have a minimum of ¼” per foot slope
